Super-strong Mortar

04 Sep 2017

The Great Wall of China is one of the oldest, largest, and most celebrated achievements of human ingenuity. The archaeological survey found that the entire wall is 8 852 km and with all of its branches measures out to be 21 196 km (13 171 mi).

Its building began in 221 BC and took more than 1800 years.

While construction began under the Qin Dynasty, the recognizable segments that we think of when we visualize the Great Wall were largely the handiwork of the Ming Dynasty, which created these facets between the 14th and 17th centuries CE.

The Great Wall of China was built using sticky rice, creating a super-strong mortar that remains the best available material for restoring ancient buildings to this day.
