2024 Indianapolis Commercial Real Estate Summit and Awards event in Indianapolis, IN
On May 16, 2024, the Indianapolis Commercial Real Estate Summit and Awards ceremony was held in Indianapolis, IN. The organizer of the event was Midwest Real Estate News.
The event featured panel discussions from Indianapolis’ CRE leaders about the state of the multifamily, office, industrial and retail sectors. Panelists also spread the word about game-changing new developments hitting the Indianapolis market, and focused on what they said will be a brighter future in the coming months.
Megan Vukusich, Director of the Department of Metropolitan Development of the City of Indianapolis, kicked the summit off with her keynote statement, one that focused on the bright future for development in the city.
Speakers on the Apartment Market Update & Forecast: Opportunities & Challenges panel focused on the continuing resilience of the local multifamily market. Demand from renters remains high. And while investment sales have slowed due to higher interest rates, panelists said that the fundamentals of the Indianapolis apartment market remain strong. Speaking on the panel were Sarah Hempstead, Principal & CEO, Schmidt Associates; Austin Dumas, Director of Acquisitions, Lauth Group, Inc.; Brian Shelbourne, VP, Originations, Merchants Capital; Jana Hageman, President, T&H Investments; and Cam Benz, First Vice President, CBRE.
Participants in the Indianapolis Market Sector Update panel focused on the challenges and opportunities facing the office, retail, industrial, investment, construction, healthcare and finance sectors. The takeaway? Yes, these are challenging times. But Indianapolis remains a desirable CRE market, signaling that better times are on the way. Speakers included Traci Kapsalis, Executive Vice President, JLL; Christopher Engel, Partner, Taft; Matt McGrady, Senior Vice President, Industrial, Colliers; Matt Ambrose, Director, District Capital; Keith Stark, CEO/Founder, ConsortiumCRE; Ben Cohen, VP, Brokerage, Cornerstone; and Jared Laub, COO, Compass.
The Transformation & Development of Downtown and Suburban Markets panel focused on game-changing projects taking place in both downtown Indianapolis and its surrounding communities. Speakers on this panel were Andrew Mallon, Executive Director, Capital Improvement Board; Brock Kenyon, Vice President, SomeraRoad; Kiamesha Sylvia G. Colom, Partner, Taft; Lance Evinger, Vice President of Acquisitions and Dispositions, Hendricks Commercial Properties; and John Cohoat, V.P. of Development, Patch Development.
The event ended with celebration. That’s because Midwest Real Estate News handed out its Indiana Commercial Real Estate Awards honoring those lenders, brokers, developers, contractors and others who made a positive impact in the state’s real estate business last year.
